Reading Defying the Duke was a fun way to spend a hour one rainy night. I liked that it had a little of everything to offer. It's a contemporary romance with hints of paranormal, historical, mystery, and fate all wrapped up in one pretty package. I really enjoyed it. I liked the characters. I loved the idea of the past visiting and interacting sexually with Amelia and Jack. And I liked the mystery they had to solve. Most of all, I loved the hint that this all could have happened before and that Amelia was meant to meet Jack once again. All in all, Defying the Duke was a lot of fun packed in one short novella.

I couldn’t put the book down. I love how Amelia and Jack come together to figure out the truth behind the Duke and wife’s disappearance. This book made me laugh. There is a lot of passion in this read. I can’t wait to see if Meta follows this book up with a longer book to allow the characters to grow. I love Ben and how he manages to push Jack and Amelia together. My favorite scene would be the one in the restaurant when they Amelia and Jack first meet. Wellington is a cute addition to the story. Granted the Duke won’t be happy about them digging further into his disappearance. I think I was drawn more to Amelia and her love of history and books. I recommend this book!

This is not my usual read, and yet I found this story a very entertaining sexy, fun read. It's lovely that we get to see the characters before they meet. It's a love story across time and space. Great, just too short for me!

This is a fun fast reading novella dealing with two very sensual ghosts who refuse to go away for some unknown reason. Jack’s character won my heart because he didn’t just fall over for his ghostly women who wanted to continually please him against his consent. The author did a great job of writing his emotions to his ghostly visits in a manner that made you just want to grab Jack as your one and only. Amelia’s character was smart and quick on her feet in how she reacts to the chain of events she works through between the Duke and herself. I love how she was willing to think quickly on her feet and continually think of new options. I do like the ending of the book but I feel it could have had a little more meat to it for more of a lasting impact. This book is great for those wanting a fast, entertaining and erotic read.

Overall I enjoyed Defying the Duke. The plot was fun, unique, and captured my interest. It was an interesting story. Amelia and Jack took some time to warm to, but they had good chemistry and I liked that they were introduced to the reader before being introduced to each other. It was a nice kind of tease that worked well as I was definitely looking forward to them meeting. They clashed a bit at first, which built some tension.

A deliciously sweet novella with characters I found easy to like. Although short, the plot was intriguing and well developed. Amelia and Jack were well fleshed out as characters. I do hope the author writes a follow up or expands this story to novel length......both plot and characters have more to give!

It is short and sweet. The author was able to adequately develop the story and characters to make it feel complete.

I do hope Meta Mathews uses this as a springboard and I get to see a story which brings more detail, since this by itself is brilliant. And yes, I'd read the full novel too, just to find out what these intriguing characters are really up to!

A quick and sexy read for when you need a quick fix. I can easily see this being a longer story, a few things seemed rushed to fit it into the short story. I thought it was a really interesting premise and enjoyed the reincarnation aspect to the storyline. The characters were really likable. Entertaining read.

A fast paced and smooth flowing plot charms and chills readers at the same time with lots of passion and suspense. Well written scenes and details capture the imagination and the well orchestrated suspense draw the reader deeper into the story while the strong compelling characters grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning. While there is certainly lots of passion, there is intrigue and humor as well and I found the story to be a quick entertaining read.
