This story was once again what I came to expect from this author. I feel like I am always saying that, because she never disappoints. The storyline is one that captures me as the reader from the first chapter and does not let go. Not only the romantic interest but the other plots. While this story can certainly be read as a standalone, if you have read the previous stories the author always makes sure to include some of the previous characters you came to love. I would recommend every story in The Shifter Chronicles series, including this story of course.

Great world building in this Shifter Chronicles series yet I have found the books also work well as stand-alones. I found that with this coalition building of combining different organizations, and different shifter types together, author Crissy Smith has created a great series that everyone into PNR book will thoroughly enjoy. So I now have a few Crissy Smith books under my belt and I got to say, she is simply wonderful. I can’t believe I haven’t discovered this goldmine of a author before. Her talent in creating shifters, their interactions, suspense and sense of humor in her books is something I look for in every PNR I read. Anyone who isn’t reading her, should be.

Luca is enjoying his time with the Coalition, but when the FBI joins the fray, all the agents will be in a fight for their lives in this thrilling paranormal romance. Jade and Luca has some serious chemistry from the first meeting, and it just keeps getting hotter throughout the story as these strong captivating characters grab the reader's attention and demand they do what's right. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, excitement and romance. The humorous dialogue and ribbing between the teammates also cause quite a few chuckles. Vivid imagery brings the story to life as the reader becomes completely immersed in the action, and the intriguing events ensure that they never have a dull moment.

Together, this pair is intense and keep the suspense and action packed scenes moving. So much so that I did not want to put the book down. The world building and details are well done by the author. They keep the reader engaged and wanting more. With the missing agents, danger, tension between the shifters and humans, action, and chemistry between Luca and Jade, this is a fantastic story that can easily be read in an afternoon.
