Twenty years ago, Sylvia Starling played everyone’s high school sweetheart in the hit 2000s-era sitcom, Drama Kids. But after nine years at the top of the ratings, a series of on- and off-set scandals plus a high-profile studio sale forced the show off the air. Unlike her costars, who found fame and fortune on and off the screen, Sylvia never acted again.
Fast forward to present day: Sylvia is a relative recluse, having retreated to her lake house in Pine Valley, Tennessee after the show’s demise for an extended vacation that never quite ended. But things are about to change for Sylvia. That is, if the new owners of Nostalgia Network have anything to do with it. As it stands, the powers that be are interested in reviving a handful of beloved old sitcoms to bring back the Golden Era of prime time television, and Drama Kids happens to be at the top of their list!
Young upstart production intern Knox Atlas gets tasked with bringing notoriously “difficult” Sylvia back into the network TV fold. Not surprisingly, given the middle-aged star’s penchant for protecting her privacy at all costs, things start off bad and only get worse from there. After practically running him off of her property with a few – okay, plenty of – choice words, Sylvia is none too pleased to find that Knox has rented the cabin next door for a week, joining her on morning hikes, afternoon swims and evening cookouts whether either of them like it or not.
But when annoyance turns to attraction, a late night campfire confession turns would-be enemies into willing lovers, igniting a May-December romance that threatens to melt Sylvia’s cold heart and topple Knox’s red hot career. That is, if the torrid affair were ever to come out. But they can’t hide from the world forever, and when Knox’s deadline to deliver his leading lady back to Hollywood comes due, Sylvia must decide whether to return to Hollywood as a fading sitcom star or headline her very own romcom – this time in real life!
