  Review by Lisabet Sarai

I loved this book, for a dozen reasons. Rarely do I find such originality and freshness in today’s erotic romance. Aurelia Evans makes Arcanium feel real—bloody, dangerous, uncomfortable and unbearably arousing. The horror and the eroticism balance perfectly, both conveyed in vivid, visceral detail. In Arcanium, violence and fear are the flip side of sexual desire. You can scarcely tell whether your heart is racing from lust or terror. The pacing of this novel particularly impressed me. The narrative tension climbs steadily to three successive peaks, each one emotionally shattering. I don’t want to spoil readers’ enjoyment by giving away details, but it’s very skillfully done.

Interesting, unique, exciting, and at times quite steamy – this story transported me to a different world where wishes can come true, not all demons are evil, and love can still conquer all!

I loved the old timey freak show and circus- feel of this book, it was similar to what you might have heard or read about back in the early 1900’s. This book has everything, funny dialogue, and real connections to characters, kink and an amazing sordid circus setting. I highly recommend it!!

I was pulled right in from the start. I enjoyed watching Maya find herself in the circus. Not only did I enjoy seeing Maya’s relationship with Bell take shape but I also enjoyed seeing Maya interact with the rest of the demons and people in the circus. There are friends and enemies all around and Maya must learn who is who and how to deal with it all. This circus is a wondrous world full of danger and excitement. You never know what lurks behind all the showmanship and always think before you wish for something because you just might get it.

I don't think I have ever read anything like it. The whole vibe of the story is very in your face, kinky & freaky. I am glad I picked it up and could not put it down to see what would happen next. I have to say that the "Hero" of this story was not very likable. I know he is a jinni/demon but he came off to me as a big manipulator and other than giving really good sex, I was not a fan. Maya our Heroine, I have some mixed feelings about too though on the whole I liked her and her snarky tongue. This is the first in the series and I am curious to see what comes next.

This book goes to show you that there is a little evil and good in everyone and it all comes in levels. I look forward to next book in this series.
