Three favorite desserts:
• American pie. Apple pie is often overlooked in a list of favorite desserts as it just so simple and humble, but a really good one is breathtakingly seductive and a real sweet treat. My grandmother's was the best. Made with juicy spiced apples, she sprinkled the top with brown sugar so the crust crystallised into crunchy heaven. Enjoyed with vanilla ice cream it's what I always call perfect snuggle food.
